Charity Competition: RNLI & Whisky
please note, we are still building this prize and website. MCLEANSCOTLAND & IAN HORNE HAVE CHATTED ON THIS FOR MONTHS, they are now running a competition involving three Lifeboats and 3 distilleries; Oban, Talisker and Wick. Each of these locations has a busy lifeboat. Each DISTILLERY has donated a bottle, the prize winner also receives an original whisky stave framed photo and an original illustration of a Pulteney bottle. The world renowned Charlie Maclean will also be giving a signed book to the winner. More and more people are using beaches and the sea for leisure and RNLI crews and lifeguards are responding to an increased number of incidents. In 2012, 49% of launches were to leisure craft users, 20% to people ashore, 13% to people in the water, 10% to merchant or fishing vessels and 8% to other sea users. RNLI lifeboats launched 8,905 times in 2011, saving 354 lives. Our lifeguards aided 17,671 people on more than 180 of the UK and Channel Islands' busiest beaches. THE PRIZE; A bottle of; Talisker, Oban and Old Pulteney. An original illustration of a Pulteney bottle and an original photograph by Ian Horne, both in wood frames made from cask staves. Also a signed book from our whisky club Patron Charles Maclean. ALL FUNDS RECEIVED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO RNLI It will come as no surprise to find that mcleanscotland support the RNLI as we are an island nation with many miles of coastline. The crews do a fantastic job, they do not get government funding - they rely totally on donations. WE ARE PROUD TO SUPPORT THEM! Why not pay a visit to the website: www.rnli.org.uk Photographs; above; Wick Lifeboat. Below; Skye Lifeboat and whisky bottle, by Ian Horne.
