Ladies Only Whisky Tour

A new concept in whisky touring, we hope it starts a whole new whisky touring scene! This tour is aimed at ladies wishing to explore a more in depth tour for the whole whisky making process. The tour will include some free time and "retail therapy" sessions! We have designed this tour for a max of 8 adults on tour, minimum 4 adults. We only ask that when booking,  you do book as a group of friends, colleagues or members of a whisky club or society.

Our tour shown is just an example, we can work with you to design your own tour with all the favourite brands, distilleries, bottlers, shops and cooperages.

Example; Day 1; arrive into Scotland, we will meet you at any airport, railway station or city location, transfer you to Perth, where you shall be based for a couple of days. Depending on arrival time into Scotland, either travel direct to the hotel, or take in a distillery along the way! From Perth, we have Dewars World of Whisky, Edradour, Tullibardine, Blair Atholl and Glenturret all within an hour's drive. We will also escort you to our local pub this evening for a dram or wine etc. We shall also be looking at suggestions for dinner - depending on numbers.

Day 2; first call this morning will be to one of Scotland's smallest distilleries; Edradour in Highland Perthshire. Driving up to Pitlochry and through the wee village of Moulin, leading us to the distillery. A tour and taste here, time to shop before heading to Moulin again, a light lunch at the Inn. Some free time in Pitlochry, before driving to Aberfeldy and Dewar's World of Whisky. Here another grand tour, tasting, warehousing and a question and answer session. We conclude the day with a scenic tour in Perthshire, some history, shopping and a return to Perth.

Day 3; we head north this morning, heading for Speyside, where our first call will be to Glenfarclas, a family owned distillery, we offer a really good tour and taste here, before heading for lunch. This afternoon we visit one of our largest distilleries; Glenfiddich. Also on the menu today, a visit to the Speyside Cooperage, see how casks are made and repaired. Overnight Speyside.

Day 4; we head north again today, up to Portsoy in fact, to Glenglassaugh distillery, an excellent extra long tour here followed by a couple of tastings! We stop for a bowl of the world famous Cullen Skink (fish and potato soup) before heading south to visit a private cask warehouse and bottling plant. A really good insight into how the Independednt's work. A return to the hotel for more drams!

Day 5; the final day. we head south directly to Edinburgh,a quick city tour and drop you at the city centre hotel, if too early to check in, we shall drop luggage and drop you at the shops! Retail therapy - let it begin!

The Scotch Whisky Association doesn’t hold statistics on the number of women working in the whiskysector, it’s clear in the country’s 108 distilleries, females are holding increasingly high-profile positions.

Women like Glenglassaugh distillery’s duo of Mhairi McDonald, its production manager, and Susan Colville, who has just been named as the Aberdeenshire malt’s European brand development manager. McDonald and Colville were key to the creation and production of Glenglassaugh’s new Revival whisky, which was launched in 2012. 

Stephanie Macleod  Master blender at John Dewar & Sons, Glasgow  has worked in the industry since 1993 and has been a full-time master blender since 2006, creating a range of blends. Dewar’s also has female distillery managers in Roselyn Thomson at Aultmore, Speyside, and Carol More at Aberfeldy, Perthshire.

Rachel Barrie  Master blender at Morrison Bowmore Distillers, Glasgow, which produces Auchentoshan, Bowmore, Glen Garioch and McClelland’s  Barrie’s Ardbeg ‘Corryvreckan’ botttling for Glenmorangie was named World’s Best Single Malt Whisky by Whisky Magazine in 2010.

Georgie Crawford  Distillery manager at Lagavulin, Islay Crawford runs the distillery. Trained at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, she moved to run the Talisker visitor centre on the Isle of Skye in 2007, and in 2010 Diaego asked her to manage Lagavulin.
