ISLE OF ISLAY WHISKY TOUR
5 days/4 nights. DINNER BED AND BREAKFAST
This is mostly for groups of 6 - 10 booking at the
same time, BUT CAN ALSO BE DESIGNED FOR DRIVER GUIDED
AND SELF DRIVE TOURS.
An opportunity to visit Islay and sample the whisky on this unique island. This tour is designed for the
whisky enthusiast, mixed with some sightseeing and good "craik" with the locals. We invite you to join us.

REAL WHISKY LOVERS
This Itinerary includes: 4 full Distillery Tours,
"Master Classes " with unique tastings,
an " exciting" Ferry Journey to Jura. Visit the Port Askaig Hotel Bar (traditional Island Bar.)
Tour of the Brewery. 4 nights accommodation with dinner bed and breakfast. A chance to experience the
unusual, a SUPERB tour!
Thursday Arrive Prestwick 13.35 - coach to meet group at airport. Drive to Dunoon and take the ferry
to Argyll, another ferry, the 6pm sailing to Islay. Upon landing, transfer to hotel, overnight on Islay with
dinner. Get together in the bar tonight for a chat with the locals, maybe a dram? Friday Leave Hotel after breakfast. Today we will enjoy the services of a local, superb guide with
good humour! Scenic drive to Ardbeg Distillery 10.30am Tour ( depending on time of year ) includes tastings
of e.g. 17 yr old Malts. Lovely photographic opportunities from old loading pier. Stay at Ardbeg for a really
good traditional Scottish Lunch, broth, seafood, Clootie Dumplin ( all home made. ) After a relaxing lunch
another scenic drive to Bruichladdich Distillery and personal attention of (depending on his travel schedule)
James McEwan, Master Blender or Assistant Manager / Blender Duncan McGilvray. This would be a unique
opportunity to have a " Master Class" on a question & answer basis with one of the foremost Malt Experts
in the World - with a visit to the cask warehouse and Nosings / Tastings from casks not available on a
normal tour. Returning to your hotel you sidetrack to make an interesting visit & tour of Islay's new
"Micro Brewery" ..... with tastings and tour of production areas. Very good quality beers for sampling &
sale. "Personal" attention by owner . Dinner at hotel.
Saturday Another day with your personal guide, leave your hotel and take a scenic drive to Caol Isla
Distillery. Right on the edge of the Sound of Jura.
Another perfect photo opportunity with the Paps of Jura in the
background - see above. Morning Tour ( approx 10am ) followed by Tastings / Nosings. This is very convenient
for ferry to Isle of Jura ...... while waiting for ferry opportunity to have a quick Malt or Very Good beer in
the 250 yr old bar of the Port Askaig Hotel, within 40metres of the ferry. Beautiful scenic drive through
remote country to Isle of Jura Distillery with Personal Question & Answer session with Mickey Heads,
Manager/ Blender ( depending on his travels ) or Willie Cochrane, Blender. Visit to cask warehouses with
Unique tastings. Return to Hotel via "The Glen" road with good opportunity of seeing large herds of
Red Deer at roadside. Dinner at your hotel tonight. Sunday you leave Islay after a full Scottish breakfast and catch the 9.45am ferry back to the
mainland. After your sailings and drive back to Ayrshire, book into your hotel in Ayr for the night, dinner included.
A day of ferries and sightseeing en route. You will have some time available for sightseeing in Ayr
before dinner hopefully (depending on the ferries).
Overnight Glasgow.
