4 night, 5
day add–on tour package sample
Self Drive or driver/guide available.
Costs shown below.
Before or after the 2009 gathering in Edinburgh,
we would like to present this tour of 5 days here in
Scotland. Arriving into Glasgow or Edinburgh
airport. This example can be
a self drive tour for a couple, a smaller/large
group.
DAY 1
a drive through wonderful Scottish
countryside along the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch
Lomond, stopping at the loch for photos and rest
rooms. At Tarbet you travel through the Argyll
forest to Loch Fyne and Inveraray. You stay here
tonight, with plenty of time to explore the town
upon arrival, including the castle, museum boat,
jail and the town itself.

DAY 2 after a fully cooked Scottish breakfast
you head out
on a history tour! Driving west to Lochgilphead towards Kilmartin
Glen. Here you see and touch over 5000 years
of ancient Celtic and Scottish history. A
superb day of exploring standing stones, burial
cairns, ruined hilltop fort and a graveyard with
Knight Templar stones. There is also a wee
museum, Kirk (church) and
village pub. You will then travel down a narrow
single track road to an unspoilt area in Knapdale.
You will see an old Kirk built many think, by
the Knight Templar’s. Grave stones, celtic
Cross and superb views in this, a rarely
visited location. On the return to Inveraray stop at Castle Sween, thought to be one of
the first stone castles in Scotland. Returning
via the Crinan Canal to your accommodation.

DAY 3 today travel east, visiting Loch Awe and the
superb St Conan’s Kirk. Then through Rannoch Moor and the Glen of Weeping; Glencoe.
Onto Spean Bridge and a rest stop at the
woollen. One more stop will be at Inverlochy Castle just
outside Fort William. Returning to the
accommodation in Fort William.

DAY 4 a special day out today (if
you wish) as you board the Jacobite
steam train, heading to Mallaig. This was the
steam train featured in Harry Potter and is one of
the most scenic journeys in Europe. Your transport
(groups only) will meet you at Mallaig and drive you back,
stopping at Glenfinnan, to see the visitor centre
and monument to the 1745 rebellion. A really
good day trip with lots of time for sightseeing and
lunch. Returning to Fort William for
overnight. Self drive visitors would
need to purchase a return trip on the Jacobite
train.

DAY 5 from
your accommodation travel along Glen Spean to
Dalwhinnie, where you turn south heading for Edinburgh,
arriving late afternoon.
