Hi Liz & Paul, Everyone had a great time on the tour, it was great and all the hotels and meals were excellent. We made a couple of mistakes one being the entertainment in Oban, however that was just the show that was on when we were there, too bad though as I had been before and it was excellent. The other error was of my doing and that was skipping Tobermoray in favour of getting to Drumnadrochit, the latter being closed by the time we got there, in retrospect we would have been better to stop at Tobermoray. Everything was well planned and executed and a big thank-you is due both of you for a wonderful time had by all. I am sure that all of us would call on you again if the occasion arises and we return to visit the rest of the distilleries. Thanks for a great trip and it was a great pleasure to meet you both. On behalf of the group, Mike. Canada. 2011 Hi everybody at McLean! Thank you for a stunning tour, truly a tour we will remember. Liz, it was a pleasure to meet you at D & T. Stewart at BenRiach was an amazing experience and a fantastic guy, well worth the whole tour. But of course Glenglassaugh got a special place in our hearts, a place we definitely will visit again – (when it's time to bottle the golden drops, if not before). The Cooperage was worth visiting as well, as an important part of whiskies - even if the tour seemed very commercial. The Faroese group May 2011. Paul's whisky tour was outstanding. He took time to show us some of the country we would otherwise never have seen. Lamont took over on Islay and continued what Paul had commenced. We not only saw a beautiful country, but also learned a great deal about its colourful history and culture. The B&B on Islay at Bowmore was one of the most charming I've ever had the pleasure of staying in, its view of the sea. Inveraray had a bar with impressive selection of highland malts. Just across the street they had a malt store which carried an impressive selection of malts. I was fortunate to find a rare malt I had been looking for without success. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone. Canada WWW.ANGELSWHISKYCLUB.COM We have a love for the water of life, this is a club for ordinary people who love whisky! McLeanScotland are not linked or connected to ANY distillery, saying that, we do have excellent working relationships with them. Our tours visit distilleries with your pre set itinerary, we will design a tour to your favourites just for you at any location staying in a guest house, hotel or castle, or even on a boat. Dutch Whisky Society (DWS) I would like to thank you again - also on behalf of the rest of the group - for our last week''s tour of Scotland. We had a really great time there!! Thanks to your (and of course Liz' ) effort and preparations, and of course to Willie - I think he matched quite well with our group - it was a resonable "smooth ride''...... Also we would like to thank you very much for the offer to send our excess bottles by mail to us! We are very happy we could buy now all we wanted and cannot get over here. "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for being a reliable, generous and most thoughtful guide. Your business will flourish if the service we enjoyed is your norm. We had a great time Gareth". "Hello Paul, Now we are back home in Norway after a safe return. Thanks to you for a very successful excursion on Friday. I have got very positive feed-back from the group. Edinburgh is a very nice city and we felt a very positive attitude among the Scots to us Norwegians. I will enjoy your gift and we may arrange something together again." Řivind.
Hi Liz It was nice meeting up with you and
Paul again, and I hope to be back for another tour
sometime. My trip home went as
planned, most important...my bottles of whisky arrived
safely! :-) I wanna thank both of you for making my tour
exactly like I had imagined, I cant think of anything
that would have made it more perfect. What I had in mind
was a whiskytour, mixed with scottish culture and
history, and that is excactly what I got. I was really
impressed with Pauls knowledge of whisky, destilleries
and history, and I feel I know a whole lot more about
both whisky and Scotland after this trip. The fact that
I came alone on this trip made it very flexible, and we
could basicly do wathever I wanted, and be as effective
as possible. There was some great tours of destilleries,
especially at Glenglassaugh, where Paul managed to get
Ronnie to do a private tour/tasting for several
hours...brilliant! Also the tour at Glenfiddich, of the
new and not open to public yet part, was really great.
The Dufftown Highland games was a nice surprise, it
wasnt in my plans, but I didnt know about it, so I`m
glad Paul put it in my plans. I spent a couple of days
alone in Aberdeen before I went back home, and even if I
really enjoy the bigger scottish cities, I realized that
the countryside and villages is more my thing :-) I still have some places I
really want to visit, like Islay, Arran, Jura and
Campbeltown....so I hope I am able to come back next
year :-) Ravn. Norway whisky man
A RECENT TOUR; Guests comment Paul, On behalf of all I can say we will treasure this trip as a unique experience of the whisky world. I have been bragging about this trip already at work, they all envy us. For us, my brother, son and brother in law this trip was more than we all imagined. We feel that we have seen Scotland in a way only possible with a guide like you. The scenery of this whisky tour was beautiful, the wonderful boat trip to Islay, the nature, the historical places and as special treat the Doune castle where Monty Python made their first feature movie. For me this made the whisky tour just perfect. Your knowledge of whisky and all details attached to it really made it a special trip which I can recommend to all. The different distilleries, the history behind it, the visit to the cooperage, your network allowing access to closed distilleries and the tastings of very special whiskies at different locations was just beyond belief (and taste). Both Peter and Bas also said that by tasting so many different kind of whisky's they learned a lot more about whisky on this trip, so 2 more "hooked" to whisky. I personally thought this trip would make all clear and that at the end I would be able to say what my personal favourite whisky's would be. Well the conclusion is simple; thanks to you I have to conclude that not only whisky is a more diverse product I ever imagined and that there is more to whisky then Islay whisky, in Speyside excellent whisky's are made. The adventure has just begun! Marc. Netherlands. |
