PAUL'S 10 POINT DEBATE ON INDEPENDENCE; 10 January 2012.

1. we keep all our own finances gained from oil, gas, banking and whisky, power (electric and water) considerable sums indeed.

2. the new Scottish country, gives a helping hand to tourism, one of the biggest industries here, tax breaks to small tourism companies, guest houses and attractions etc.

3. reduce personal and capital gains and business taxes, this will give people more money to spend, invest and will result in more people moving here to live, even better!

4. introduce incentives to large worldwide blue chip companies to invest here. Even more incentives to employ Scots.

5. set up more/better alliances worldwide with other financially secure countries. Trade deals etc.

6. retain our regiments, gain employment for them and revenue by hiring out to NATO and similar. use navy and marines for fishing protection and anti drug imports.

7. sell naval bases and barracks, airfields etc we do not need back to he English. Or/and, lease them out to Nato and friendly powers.

8. tell the BBC where to go, they are biased, unfair, very pro English and anti Scots, we set up our own version; Scots Broadcasting Company.

9. change our currency to a Scots Pound, or ScotDollar, or a Scottish Groat, just first thoughts.

10 an obvious one to finish with; a Scottish Passport.

Update 31 January 2012;  TELEVISION slots for Scottish news are “severely constrained” and viewers north of the Border should be offered an alternative to “England-only stories” shown during UK-wide bulletins, according to the BBC’s former national governor for Scotland.  Jeremy Peat backs News at 6 and News at 10 programmes for Scotland, as well as giving viewers the option of flicking over from English-only news items to watch a Scottish focused section instead. The former broadcasting chief also calls for more BBC devolution to Scotland, as he dismissed suggestions that the corporation’s controversial headquarters move from London to Manchester had resolved the issue. Mr Peat’s strongly worded demands were welcomed by senior Tory MSP Murdo Fraser, who said there was “frustration” among many Scottish viewers about seeing the same story on national and regional TV as well as the broadcast of items that were “not particularly relevant to Scotland”. ISN’T THAT WHAT I’VE BEEN SAYING FOR AGES?  PAUL.

update 22 Jan 2012;  William Hague The UK Foreign Secretary says Britain’s 140 embassies and high commissions will stop promoting whisky and other products if Scotland becomes independent. Many UK diplomatic missions help to promote whisky for free. Last year, whisky exports earned Scotland £3billion, equal to £125 a second and more than 20 per cent up on 2010.  Paul; how childish can you be? do we see a tit for tat thing starting here? what a real idiot Hague is. At the end of the day, they only "help" promote. Do we really want to be in a UK with these bloody idiots about? NO. Voter “backlash” south of the Border if it ignores the growing sense of English identity – and a decline in Britishness – which has emerged as a consequence of the debates over Scotland’s constitutional future warning to the UK government . An estimated 80 per cent of people support full fiscal autonomy – devo-max – for Scotland. Our Alec said: “Most people in England think if Scotland wants to become independent then fair enough, as long as they raise their own revenue and govern their own spending.”  Former Labour chief whip Baroness Taylor of Bolton, who has lived most of her adult life in England but was born in Motherwell, has put down an amendment to the Scotland Bill calling for expat Scots to get the vote. And Scottish exiles in the Commons, such as Colonel Bob Stewart, have made similar calls, while a large group of English Tory MPs have publicly pressed for a UK-wide referendum. Paul; If you belong to a gym or the like, is it not up to YOU to stay or leave?

..................

Should the Saltire (the peoples flag for Scotland)be flown above Union flag at Edinburgh Castle? The Scottish Government faced calls to erect a new flagpole at Edinburgh Castle allowing the Saltire to fly above the Union (British) flag. The Army, which has a base there which is run by Westminster (England), refused requests to replace the British flag with a Saltire.  Although a Saltire does fly at the castle, a Scottish castle by the way IN SCOTLAND, it flies under the damn Brit flag. The petition was lodged by Mark Hirst on behalf of the campaign group Saltire Scotland.  The Scottish Government, owns the castle, and Historic Scotland, which manages the castle are to seek the views of the Ministry of Defence (England).  My own (Paul McLean) view is that it should fly well above the English government flag. In fact, why not go the whole nine yards (no, not a kilt) and give us our country back like most people want!

We have our own income available from whisky tax, we have oil and gas rights, we don't need England Wales and Northern Ireland. Not only oil and gas, we have ample supplies of water! We could offer great incentives to worldwide businesses to work here with us, I bet you Sean Connery would move back here, och, we could even set ourselves up as a tax haven country! What of our brilliant Scottish regiments, airmen and sailors? Well, just a thought; lease them out to NATO and peace keeping duties. We also do not need a royal family of German descent, whose ancestors even had pacts with Hitler. We have a longer line of kings and queens, an older flag and older crown jewels. We have a proud history, not only here in Scotland, but around the world, how many Scots went to Canada, USA, Australia, South Africa and more?  Lets just build on tourism, lower taxes, a happy country where our laws are different from England (many are already), schools and universities better, we are the Best Small Country in the World! Why is it there are so many Scottish festivals and events, associations and clubs around the world who are Scottish? Dinnee think England has the same.  We have very proud images of our country, what does England have as an image? football hooligans! Our Tartan Army are welcome all over the world, English fans are not. I tell you what, I would also take us out of Europe and retain our own money and set up deals with other countries, Norway did it, let us follow them! Paul McLean; MCLEANSCOTLAND - Tartan Army squaddies!
