January 2009 Curling and Culture tour
of Scotland

The tour will include
these locations; Four days and
nights, curling and culture/history in Strathpeffer.
Three nights in Perth. Four nights in Edinburgh.
Three days/nights curling in Stranraer. Two nights
in Largs and two final nights in Glasgow.

10 JANUARY arrive
into Scotland. our
coach will meet you and transfer to Strathpeffer.

11 JANUARY sightseeing
along the Great Glen, Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. This evening story telling by the
Highlander (above left photo) listen as he takes you
through the lead up, the battle and aftermath of
the last battle fought on British soil - Culloden. Overnight
Strathpeffer Dinner included.
12 JANUARY curling in Inverness
and more local sightseeing. Strathpeffer overnight

13 JANUARY highland sightseeing and overnight
Strathpeffer. More detailed info added to

14 JANUARY arrive into
Perth (above), stay overnight at the
Ramada Hotel in the city centre, just minutes from
the curling rink. 2 days of
curling in Perth. Welcome dinner tonight in the
hotel.
15 JANUARY all day Perth and overnight.
This evening, why not stroll out with us and meet
some of the locals? More detailed info added to
these days a wee bit later, watch this space! Buffet
included.

16 JANUARY
another day/night in Perth. Learn all
about bag piping today, we will bring pipers to the
hotel from our very own world championship Pipe Band
Denny & Dunipace. We will also be taking some more
sightseeing in today in and around Perth, possibly
the Black Watch regimental Museum inside Balhousie
Castle. Learn all about this world famous regiment
of the British Army.
 
17 JANUARY transfer to Edinburgh by coach,
where we stop at Murrayfield Stadium, for a curling
session and a chance to see the home of
Scottish Rugby! Overnight Bruntsfield Hotel, Edinburgh
18 JANUARY Edinburgh free time. Overnight Edinburgh.
More detailed info added to these days a wee bit
later, watch this space! For instance, a walking
tour of Edinburgh has been arranged.
19 JANUARY Edinburgh free time. Overnight Edinburgh
20 JANUARY Edinburgh free time. Overnight Edinburgh. 4
days/nights Edinburgh, lots of free time here.
21 JANUARY transfer to
Stranraer overnight. North West Castle
Hotel opened for business as a hotel in 1962 with 12
bedrooms and was an immediate success. Hammy,
a keen curler, saw a requirement for a curling rink
in the area, as curlers had to travel to Ayr, a
round trip of 100 miles. In 1970 the North West
Castle became the first hotel in the world with an
indoor curling rink. The hotel today has 82
bedrooms, and has added a leisure centre with
swimming pool. A superb stay here is guaranteed!

24 JANUARY transfer to
Largs. Set on the wooded hillside behind the
Ayrshire seaside town of Largs,
sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde has
magnificent views over the Firth of Clyde, the Isle
of Cumbrae and the Isle of Bute to the majestic
mountains of Arran. Fully equipped lecture rooms
in-house, with a six-hole golf practice facility
that has scenic views over the Firth of Clyde, as
well as two relaxing lounges, two comfortable bars
and a games room, all at sportscotland National
Centre Inverclyde. Facilities include: Squash,
Tennis, Badminton, Sauna, Fitness suite and
Gymnastics.
All in all over 20 sports can be delivered at
sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde. Dinner
included.

25 JANUARY curling
today at Greenfields hopefully! to be confirmed.
Largs overnight. Dinner included.
26 JANUARY Transfer to Glasgow staying
at the Euro Hostel. En
route we will be stopping at Kay's Factory where the
stones/rocks are made for worldwide curlers. Overnight
Glasgow. More detailed info added to these two days
in Glasgow, a wee bit later, watch this space!
We will be curling in Glasgow, possibly Braehead
Arena.

27 JANUARY all day free Glasgow, museums etc. Overnight
Glasgow. Curling sightseeing, free time
also. Last chance for souvenir hunters and shoppers.
Hopefully we can all get together for a dinner and
wish you a fond farewell and "haste ye back"!
28 JANUARY homeward flight
