FRIDAY 24 JULY arrive Edinburgh, coach will meet you at the airport then visit Rosslyn Chapel, made even more famous by the Da Vinci Code. We cannot check into the hotel until 3pm so enjoy time in the city or relax at the hotel. Remainder of the day is free to do as you wish. Overnight Edinburgh 4 star ROXBURGHE HOTEL with leisure facilities.

SATURDAY 25 JULY events for the Gathering 2009. Overnight Edinburgh ROXBURGHE HOTEL. No coach required.

SUNDAY 26 JULY final day of events for the Gathering 2009. This evening we will have a special Scottish night; whisky tasting, storytelling and some food (as an optional extra) for those who wish. whisky night. Overnight ROXBURGHE HOTEL. No coach required.

MONDAY 27 JULY We depart Edinburgh driving north heading for the Trossachs. Once we reach the bottom of Loch Lomond we head north again and make our way through the mountain pass known as “rest and be thankful” – you will see why at the top! Then a drive to Inveraray where we stay at the LOCH FYNE HOTEL -  this hotel also has leisure facilities and superb views over the loch,

TUESDAY 28 JULY today we will take a circular route to Kilmartin Glen, where we stop to see and touch “5,000 years of ancient Celtic and Scottish history”. Then on through winding roads to Oban where we have free time in this western port. We return via Loch Awe to Inveraray and the LOCH FYNE HOTEL

WEDNESDAY 29 JULY we set out early this morning driving north through Glencoe, we will stop here then on to Fort William where we turn north to visit the Arisaig Highland Games.  After the games we head for Loch Ness and end our day at the PALACE HOTEL, INVERNESS. Leisure facilities.

THURSDAY 30 JULY A day trip including the Glenfiddich Whisky Distillery, some lovely scenery and Elgin. Then on to Culloden Moor visiting the battlefield of 1746 and Visitor Centre before returning to the PALACE HOTEL.

FRIDAY 31 JULY we drive south this morning along the main route to Pitlochry, maybe time to visit the smallest distillery in Scotland for those who wish. Then we head south stopping in Perth. Time here to wander the home of mcleanscotland and see the River Tay and the city, for some last minute shopping. South again to the QUEENSFERRY HOTEL overlooking the Forth Bridges.

For those wishing to stay longer and join the Mackintosh tour, we will drop you off at the Tour hotel today at Kingussie. There will also be time available for a round of golf, free day shopping or simply chill out, please ask for details. For anyone wishing to come on the two tours, there will be a deduction of £125 per person. Please note; PASSPORTS are not included in either of these two tours.

FRIDAY 31 JULY arrive Glasgow, coach will meet you at the airport and transfer north to Pitlochry where you can have free time in this lovely Victorian town.  Lots to see and do, many options for food and drink or simply relac on the coach. Then north again to Kingussie where you stay the next few days at The Duke of Gordon Hotel - situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands overlooking the picturesque Spey Valley. You can view Ruthven Barracks that were built in 1715 on the site of an earlier stone castle, which was constructed in the 1300's by the ancestors of the Seven Dukes of Gordon.

SATURDAY 1 AUGUST today is the Highland Games at Newtonmore, where you spend time enjoying some fine Scottish hospitality and culture! Returning to the hotel to freshen up before a gala ball this evening. Carl McIntosh has full details.

SUNDAY 2 AUGUST. another day spent touring in the highlands, as we head out to Spean Bridge and Fort William. We will also visit the infamous Glencoe, scene of the brutal massacre of the MacDonalds, returning to the hotel early evening. For those who wish to spend the day locally, perhaps enjoy a round of golf, ask us for details.

MONDAY 3 AUGUST. heading west again to Inverness and then along the Great Glen (Loch Ness) driving over the moors and through the Five Sisters mountains to Eilean Donan Castle (above) where we have time for a visit. Overnight at the Loch Duich Hotel overlooking the castle at Dornie.

TUESDAY 4 AUGUST. all day touring the Isle of Skye, stopping in the capital Portree, the northernmost tip at Trotternish. Then we visit Dunvegan Castle and Broadford  before heading back across the bridge to your hotel.

WEDNESDAY 5 AUGUST. we head east to Stromeferry, then Achnasheen and on to Strathfepper where will also take a wee stop. Our final visit is to Culloden Battlefield.  Our day ends in Inverness at the Thistle Hotel.

THURSDAY 6 AUGUST. Unveiling of the memorial cairn, lunch and a Gala Dinner today - all part of the Clan activities. frocks and Kilts tonight!

FRIDAY 7 AUGUST. The Moy Highland Games, dinner and Ceilidh today, again a superb part of the  Clan Chattan Gathering. Overnight Inverness.

SATURDAY 8 AUGUST. Your final day here in Scotland, as we head south again to Glasgow, via Dunfermline Abbey where King Robert the Bruce is buried, where we stop. Overnight in Glasgow.
