ANOTHER FAVOURITE OF PAUL'S
...
A stay on the
awe-inspiring islands of Orkney would
not be complete without a visit to the
northern most Scotch Whisky distillery in
the world: Highland Park. We can take you
there!
A visit to the distillery is a wonderful way
in which to learn more about the history and
traditions of these unique islands. In 2002,
the Scottish Tourist Board awarded the
distillery their Five Star Award in
recognition of its excellent facilities and
services. |

Edradour is produced in Scotland's smallest
distillery - and is hand made today as it
was over 150 years ago by just three men who
are devoted to the time-honoured methods of
whisky making. Indeed equipment used at the
distillery has remained unchanged since the
day the distillery opened. Only 12 casks of
whisky are produced a week, making Edradour
single malt a pleasure for the fortunate
few.

Not
operational anymore, but visitors are
welcome at Old Bushmills where Colerain
whiskey is produced. Phone : 01265-731521 At
one time, the grain whiskey came from the
now extinct Coleraine distillery near
Bushmills, and it was comprised mostly of
barley (something which is unusual for a
grain whiskey, which is usually produced
with maize or wheat). The Coleraine
distillery stopped making malt whiskey in
the mid-1960s, and close down completely in
1978. Other sources say Coloraine's own
distillery closed in the early 1980s. So who
placed this one as "whisky of the moment"?
Paul did! "I love its smooth taste and have
encouraged my pals to have a go, most of
them really enjoy it. When I was over in
Antrim July 2008, my friend from Coleraine
(Heather) brought a couple of bottles down
for me, mmmmmmmm!"

Highland Park 30 Year Old is an
exceptionally fine whisky that
builds on the world-class reputation
already enjoyed by the 12 Year Old.
It is the oldest single malt within
the Highland Park range and is one
of only a few 30yo distillery
bottlings to be released on a
permanent basis.
