CLAN MACLEAN & THE
GATHERING 2009 EDINBURGH

CLAN MACLEAN what can I say, it's my own clan
and we had a brilliant gathering 2007 on Mull and on
our coach tour. I know many of you came on that tour
and will be waiting for the next gathering in 2012,
but - there are also many who expressed interest in
attending this one too! So - what and where shall we
go this time? Well, we will end up in Edinburgh of
course, but before, we will do a tour to Mull (of
course), Maclean's Nose, Ardnamurchan, Morvern,
Inverness and Brought Ferry. It will be different
and fun! KILTS AT THE READY!
TOUR ITINERARY & JULY DATES for 2009. Small Group
tour OR Self Drive
See costs below
for groups and self drive tours

18 Saturday arrive into
Scotland, Glasgow or Edinburgh, we will meet you (groups only).
Then we depart north
towards Oban, where we will stay in or near
overnight. I am sure you will all still be awake and
have time to have a wee drink at the pub!
19 Sunday ready to roll? Aye of course you
are! We will catch the ferry to Mull and visit our
castle; Duart. Then we head to Tobermory for some
free time, probably lunch at the pub, before heading
to the ferry at Tobermory for Kilchoan and Maclean’s
Nose! Seriously there is such a place! Driving back
through wild scenery and to the Corran ferry taking
us back to Appin and home to Oban, where we stay
overnight.
20 Monday we leave after breakfast and head
to Inverness via Loch Ness and Nessie. A quick rest
stop and free time in Inverness, maybe some
shopping? We then to Dufftown, into the land of
whisky. Overnight after a great scenic day of
sightseeing.

21 Tuesday as we are in
Speyside we visit Glenfiddich distillery, a shame
not to eh! A great tour and a dram for you. The
remainder of the day we will visit castles, scenic
and historic locations, returning to Dufftown
overnight.

22 Wednesday we travel
south through wonderful scenery to Ballater and
Braemar. Driving down the glen through stunning
scenery to Blairgowrie, off the normal tourist track
which is superb. Then we head another place you
probably never have heard off (we think), Broughty
Ferry near Dundee. This is where Liz lives and it
has great wee pubs and a castle set on the harbour
and Firth of the River Tay. We will of course visit
one of the best pubs, maybe pulling in Liz to join
us!? The day ends here in the Ferry! A good night
out in the pub beckons …
23 Thursday we head to St Andrews where we
have time to visit the ruined cathedral, castle and
maybe take a wander to the world famous Old Course
where you can view the course. After free time for
shopping we will drive down the east neuk to the wee
fishing town of Crail where you have time to wander
around the harbour. Then we head to Glamis Castle
with it’s royal connections before returning to the
Ferry late afternoon, overnight here again.

24 Friday after a fully
cooked Scottish breakfast and then the Forth Road
Bridge to Rosslyn Chapel before arrive into
Edinburgh and check into the hotel. Relax, venture
into the city, the castle, shopping or whatever you
wish. Overnight here. We are currently planning some
evening entertainment for tonight!
25 Saturday Highland games at Holyrood Park
and much more! Overnight Edinburgh.
26 Sunday Highland games at Holyrood Park and

27 Monday a sad farewell as the tour ends and
