BAN IN SCOTLAND:
A smoking ban comes into effect
in Scotland on 26th MARCH covering ALL
pubs and restaurants It should make our pubs much
healthier for our non smoking visitors. Much debate has gone on with this
but we finally had the law passed. This means
wherever you travel in Scotland after this date,
you will not be troubled by smoke in any bar,
restaurant, cinema, railway station, in fact - any
indoor public space. Any questions you have please
contact us.

TWO leading luxury hotels in Scotland are
threatening to sack staff who smell of smoke
following the introduction of groundbreaking ban on
smoking in public places.
Turnberry, the five-star Ayrshire golf resort, and
the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh have
issued strict guidelines to hundreds of staff on
complying with the legislation. The guidelines state
that employees who want to smoke during an official
break must wash their hands thoroughly and either
brush their teeth or eat a mint straight afterwards
before returning to duty. Smoking was outlawed in
bars, hotels and restaurants from 6am sUNDAY 26TH
mARCH to protect employees from being exposed to
smoke in the workplace. Under the new legislation,
employers failing to enforce the ban will face fines
of up to £2,500 and individuals caught smoking will
face a £50 penalty. Both Turnberry and the Sheraton
have now gone completely non-smoking even though the
legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament last
year exempted hotel rooms as "private spaces".
Guests detected flouting the ban will face a charge
of £200 to cover the "deep-cleaning" of their rooms.

Executive has to say about the ban.
