SEPTEMBER; arrive into Glasgow and transfer to the city centre, staying at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel. Check in time after 3pm but luggage can be dropped at any time. The Ramada Glasgow City hotel is half a mile from Glasgow Central railway station. Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the classy shopping of Buchanan Street are within a mile. For our suggestions on dining out in Glasgow please follow link.

SEPTEMBER; Glasgow - a whole day to explore this, our largest city, why not take the Open Top Tour bus? This takes you to all galleries and museums and many more sightseeing attractions, hop on and off all day! Ramada Jarvis Hotel  Enjoy your final day in Glasgow our largest city.

SEPTEMBER; collect rental car and drive to the Motorway towards the airport and follow for Dumbarton crossing the River Clyde and on to Loch Lomond. At Tarbet there is a car park and observation point to see the loch, toilets and refreshments also. Continue all the way along the loch to Crainlarich, turning left for Tyndrum, where we suggest another stop at the Green Welly Shop. A drive through lovely scenery all the way to OBAN, where you can visit the distillery. From here take the Campbeltown road south - shortly after Lochgilphead through Ardrishaig and on the short distance to STONEFIELD CASTLE HOTEL (left). This time of year we have quite long daylight hours, so you can get lots into the day of sightseeing, suggesting a stop at Kilmartin Glen to see ancient standing stones and burial cairns.

SEPTEMBER; departing the hotel, drive the short distance to the ferry departing at 09.45 Kennacraig, leave car in car park and take ferry to ISLAY. Once you land, our guide and driver Lamont, will meet you and drive you to the first distillery. Please chat with him about what you wish to see here on Islay, he is a local islander and knows "everywhere!" We know Caol lla, Ardbeg and Laphroaig are amongst your favourites, but there are many more to see. After a day of touring and distillery visits, Lamont will drop you at your accommodation; OYSTERCATCHER B&B, Port Ellen. A house over a hundred years old and has been sympathetically renovated. They have become well known for breakfasts, offering a good choice and a healthy option.

SEPTEMBER; Lamont will pick you up after breakfast at a pre determined time, one more day of sightseeing and distilleries. He is a local and knows all there is to know about Islay, so please work with him with where to visit etc. Dropping you back at Port Ellen at the end of the day. OYSTERCATCHER

SEPTEMBER; taking the 3.30pm ferry from Port Askaig (Lamont will drop you at the ferry) returning to the mainland at Kennacraig. This gives you some free time for walking in and around Port Ellen before departure. Collect your car and drive to Inveraray, where your accommodation is GEORGE HOTEL on Main street. A superb hotel, family owned and friends of ours. You will enjoy it here, a traditional hotel with stone floors, wood beams and roaring fires, an excellent bar with very good food. Your rooms are numbers 15 and 16. NOTE; opposite the hotel is what we think as the best whisky shop in Scotland! Loch Fyne Whiskies, certainly well worth a visit to any whisky enthusiast.

SEPTEMBER; there is much to see in Inveraray, the castle, jail, museum boat, we shops etc, you may wish to explore this lochside town before departing. Then taking the road along the loch towards Loch Lomond, through the Trossachs to Stirling, where you take the motorway to EDINBURGH. Full route maps given in your tour notes. Your hotel, THE ROYAL SCOTS CLUB located in the New Town, more of a club than a hotel. With so much to see and here in our Capital, we can only give suggestions (see link above), but we do suggest the open top bus tour, the Royal Mile with castle and palace at either end and many shops and visits in between, such as St Giles Kirk, a must we think.

SEPTEMBER; your final day here, again, enjoy all there is on offer, with so many options for dining, please refer to the tour notes and welcome pack, have a great day out! The Royal Scots Club shown in the two pictures on the right.

SEPTEMBER; your flight home from Edinburgh.
