Suggested Tour
Route 2009 gathering vacation.
A 7
night tour featuring the 2009 Gathering in
Edinburgh, with 4 extra nights on tour around Clan
Lands by luxury motorcoach with a Scottish
Guide. The extra nights feature both Highland and
Lowland Clan Lands.

Day 1 Friday 24
July 2009; arrive into Scotland into Edinburgh
airport, where our coach will meet you. A transfer
to Edinburgh city centre where we will guide you on
a city tour of the Old & New Town’s. A superb
insight into Edinburgh and your base for the next
three nights. We will drop you near Princes street (TBA)
or your hotel. Check in time is unlikely to be
available until 3pm. Overnight Edinburgh.
Day 2 Saturday 25 July 2009; the first day of
the Gathering, many events taking place in Edinburgh
including the Highland games at Holyrood Park. No
coach today as Edinburgh is a fantastic “walking
city” with every attraction near at hand. Taxis are
readily available and low cost. The open top city
tour bus is also an excellent idea. Overnight
Edinburgh.
Day 3 Sunday 26 July 2009; the final day of
the Gathering 2009. See events page for things to
see and do. Overnight Edinburgh. PLEASE LOOK AT OUR
ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS FOR EDINBURGH (below).

Day 4 Monday 27
July 2009; after a fully cooked Scottish
breakfast, our coach will meet you at your hotel. We
cross the Forth Road Bridge and into the Kingdom of
Fife, travelling to Perthshire where we visit Perth
for a courtesy stop. Heading north to Pitlochry and
a whisky distillery visit at Edradour, Scotland’s
smallest distillery (only 3 people make whisky
here!). Then we head north and west up the A9 route
to Dalwhinnie, through Glen Spean. With a lunch stop
here ( not included in cost) at the Woollen Mill,
rest rooms, shops, cafe and whisky shop/tasting.
Then we travel to Glencoe and stop at the tragic
site. Our day ends in Oban where we stay locally.
Day 5 Tuesday 28 July 2009; a full day out
heading east along Loch Linnhe to Appin, Port Appin.
Then we board the wee passenger ferry to Lismore the
ancestral home of the Highland Livingstones/McLea.
Plenty of time to explore and take in the delights
of this west coast island, we recommend decent
walking shoes. Note there are no coaches allowed on
the isle. Overnight locally again.

Day 6 Wednesday 29
July 2009: leaving Oban and we head south via
Kilmartin Glen, stopping to see and touch 5,000
years of history!. Driving south along the mountain
pass “rest and be thankful” we arrive at Loch Lomond,
where we take another brief stop. Then we head to
Livingston. The hotel does have a restaurant and
bar, but you may wish to dine out in the town
itself, see suggestions where to eat. Overnight
Livingston.

Day 7 Thursday 30 July 2009; A whole day out to
the Lowland Clan Lands, first stop Linlithgo Palace,
a fantastic visit guaranteed! Then we travel to
Callander where we have free time. We are currently
chatting to Callander House re a visit. The Lowland
Clan also lived in and around Dunipace, a wee town
west of Stirling. Paul Mclean (of mcleanscotland) is
the Manager of the Denny & Dunipace Pipe Band, we
can ask to get some of the pipers and drummers to
come and meet you and play for you whilst in
Scotland. Overnight Livingston.
Day 8 Friday 1 August 2009; our tour ends as we
drop you back into Edinburgh city. Day/night
Additions can be arranged for you on self drive or
with driver guide, please enquire. Why not stay
longer, spend a night in a Scottish castle!
Further additional nights either before or after
this tour can be arranged in advance. This tour can
also be taken as a self drive option. On most of our
group tours we like to introduce our storyteller,
“the Highlander” on the run from Culloden, a
