Day 1   arrive in Scotland, either collect rental car or meet your driver at the airport. Transfer to Inveraray via Loch Lomond and Argyll forest, driving through wonderfully scenic mountain glens, alongside lochs to this highland town set on a loch.  Overnight here.

Day 2    a day for history as you see and touch over 5000 years of ancient Celtic and Scottish history, standing stones, burial cairns, ruined hilltop fort, Knight Templar graves, castles.  Mix all this with the Crinan Canal and Knapdale and you have a very good day trip!  Inveraray overnight.

Day 3   depart after breakfast for Loch awe and the village of the same name, visit St Conan’s Kirk, superb!  Then drive to Tyndrum and Rannoch Moor (above) and into Glencoe. Stunning scenery all day, as you continue to Loch Ness. With so many places to stop today, it is a really interesting day trip, ending for the night at Inverness or local area.

Day 4    options abound today;  Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, castles, even Orkney is achievable as a day trip (albeit a long day).  Overnight again Inverness.

Day 5    whisky visit! Take in a fantastic distillery tour this morning sampling our water of life.  Travel south with various routes available to Perth, where you stay overnight.  A wee town with many gardens, a palace, 3 castles and good pubs!

Day 6    day trip to Glamis Castle, Dundee and St Andrews.  Return to Perth overnight
